Slab marking and tracking
Processing steel involves high energy and expensive raw material. Once a slab is made, it must be tracked through the rest of the process. Product that is not identified can damage downstream equipment, be processed incorrectly or get lost.
A durable mark with barcode and man-readable data on the slab cuts these risks. Yards can be updated in real time with portable barcode readers: the location is scanned or entered by the crane, then the slab is scanned, and the host system updates the piece.
